Cavern is pleased to announce the upcoming opening of its first flagship boutique in the heart of Hollywood. Cavern was founded in 2005 by designers/owners Adam Tullie & Angeline Rivas as a visual extension of the works they create on paper; a print-driven adaptation into textiles. Originally recognized for their hand-drawn and printed offerings, the pair has expanded their craft into ornate beadwork, hand-woven neck pieces, and sculptural jewelry. Serving as the designers’ atelier since August 2008, the boutique has been carefully crafted using a diverse mixture of century-old reclaimed wood and other sustainable materials. The spatial concept stems from a collaborative project with Clayton & Flavie Webster of the luxury leather-based label, Cerre, whose boutique is opening in unison directly next door. Both retail spaces are interlinked, and present a singular vision of designed interiors and fabrications throughout their entirety. Further information regarding the February opening date and party will follow shortly.
Cavern is currently sold at top international retailers including Oak NYC, Ron Herman Los Angeles, American Rag Japan, Harvey Nichols Hong Kong, TNT and Reborn in Canada.

New High (M)art, the gallery-esque retailer known for hosting a series of designer-in-residence store exhibitions, announces the opening of its first thematic moment with a 9-week installment titled "World Fringe - An Ethno, Boho, Afro, Pow-Wow." The retail equivalent of a group show, NH(M)'s latest tack involves curating designers and sourcing products that pivot around a central targeted theme.
In this current example, an ethnic-bohemian direction has been identified. Pointing to a handful of independent designers, both local and abroad, the goal is to highlight ethnic permutations currently thriving in first world fashion and explore them from a variety of distinct interpretations. Confirmed designers include: Society for Rational Dress (LA), Cavern (LA), Telfar (NY), Whitehorse Couture (LA), The Battalion (LA), Goddollars (LA), Marvin y Quetzal (MX), Brian Lichtenberg (LA), Death/Traitors (NY), Peggy Noland (KC), Nehima (LA).
To further bring this vision into focus, fashion-gallerists Miho Ikeda and T-RIK will present traditional pieces gathered from around the globe that translate in-the-now as styling must-haves for all those inspired to get-their-ethnic-on this summer. With nods to early 90s ethnic looks and a gathering of African, Native American, Guatemalan and Bohemian creations, expect a celebration of print, pattern and color.
The opening will also see the unveiling of the in-house label "Nehima," featuring his and hers one-off separates specifically designed to complement this particular retail study.
This store moment offers more than a collection of unexpected styles and textures — it includes sounds, as well. New High (M)art is proud to present the preview release of the upcoming full-length album by Bitone Troupe. Recorded on a laptop by LA-based recording engineer Grant Buhr in the Kampala, Uganda, living room of the Bitone Children's Home, these tracks are filled with the raw charm and natural energy that results when a group of disadvantaged youths are given hope, a nurturing environment and the opportunity to express themselves musically. Be sure and listen for their Afro-traditional rendition of Bjork's "All is Full of Love." Proceeds from the sale will go toward furthering the work of the Bitone Children's Home.
